Format Options for Your Lifestyle
The IMPAC University Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Development meets the same rigorous standards of traditional OBHRD programs, but is presented in non-traditional formats. The approach is unique. We sequence our classes to assure continuity of learning. We provide a series of ongoing seminars that integrate skills and build a broad foundation of skills for business success.
In-Residence
While working full-time, students can complete the program in 18 months. Classes are taken in two formats simultaneously: (1) Immersion Sessions: Friday, Saturday and Sunday every month and a half, and (2) mentored independent study. Students may complete up to half of their courses via mentored independent study.
On-Line Learning
Students who are unable to attend the semi-regular class meetings of the In-Residence format will enjoy the flexibility of the full Distance Learning format. Also an 18-month program, students complete all but a small portion of their program via Distance Learning technologies. Near the beginning of the program, and again near the end, students attend a short In-Residence program in Punta Gorda. The vast majority of your learning, however, will occur in your own home or workplace, using your own computer to communicate and collaborate with your instructors and classmates.
These two formats have been explicitly designed to meet the unique needs of modern business professionals. Research has shown that the immersion sessions of the In-Residence program and the on-line courses in the Distance Learning version are two of the most powerful instructional styles for adult learners. Though both of these formats are new to many adult learners, and for some, computer learning seems "too" challenging, few students experience any problems. In fact, most adult learners thrive in these environments and wish it had been available for a larger portion of their educational experience.
(Please note: The Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Development Curriculum will be offered for the first time in January 2001. A comprehensive program description for both on-line and residential formats, and degree completion requirements will be forthcoming in the next edition of the IMPAC University Catalog).
